< Building the whole from its parts >

'When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.' This quote of Paul comes to mind (1 Corinthians 13:11) when reading 'Who's afraid of additional dimensions?' and 'Afterglow', and thinking of the former 'Sudoku'. The numbers one to nine, and nine dimensions to completeness (with the addition of time).
In both settings the degrees of freedom get sparse for the remaining elements with each relationship unveiled between them. In the end the grid is done, and the solution lies open to our eyes. No one will ask, then: 'Don't you have anything better to do?'
Nothing happens. Just the simple truth is before us. Only numbers? Not numbers. It's the relationship between them that counts. This can be exercised and verified with numbers, but also with facts, individuals, societies. Finally you feel as a part of the whole.
The whole is endless and perfect. All that can be known is known. Knowledge is everywhere at every moment. No messages need to be transmitted, no distances to be traveled. Nothing needs to be looked at, no events to be recorded. We are as we are.
Maybe you think now, that I slipped from 'childish' pastime to dubious drugs, but I reassure you: my only 'influence' is from time to time 1-2 bottles of beer (<1 L, 5% EtOH) or 4 glasses of wine (1/2 L, 10% EtOH). Neither treatment leads to prominent signs of intoxication.
My insight comes exclusively from logical argument. We assume 4 principle dimensions dealing with distances and time. We may speculate about additional ones setting the stage for understanding experiences in the world surrounding us, for communication, and for social interaction.
But when it comes to fine arts, to fictitious sceneries, to ideas in progress without reference to logical thinking, we leave the common practice of daily living. If unknown extra-dimensions have anything to do with these 'higher feelings', they may operate beyond the basic dimensions, beyond time and space.
In these higher spheres, basic physical rules have no meaning. If a new idea travels millions of lightyears in just an instant, not even Einstein would declare this as impossible. It would be no matter of conventional physical theory. We are not just physics and biology.
