Dear England
|
With
surprise and disappointment we take notice of your recent decision to
cancel your membership in the European Union. As we have to realize
now, one of the reasons - if not the most important one - was your
growing dismay about too much non-English company. |
It
is true that a number of us European foreigners moved to your
hospitable country during the last decade or so, and it might also be
so that not too few of us did not behave as good old English
customs would have required. |
You
should have told us earlier. We are deeply embarrassed of having
misused your generous patience for all too long. We apologize for our
rude misbehaviour. |
Dear
England! Please, do not leave the European Union! We need you as one of
the most important representative of European identity. Rather, we
would be ready to leave your country, if this is your urgent wish. We
will do so for good, without the necessity to force us. |
It
is sufficient to ask, and we will do you this favour. There is no need
for you to leave the Union. We will close our households and
return to our home countries or move to another place where our
expertise and energy are welcome. |
Please
stay an integral part of us, and if you prefer to sell your products to
a market with customers you'd better not get into all-too-close
personal contact, be welcome as a somewhat detached but nevertheless
highly esteemed company. |
